Before & After School Enrichment

Registration for the fall session of on-campus enrichment classes opens soon!

PTA member priority registration links go out by email on 9/11 at 8:00am — be sure to sign up for your 26/27 school year PTA membership by 9/10 to be included. General registration will be sent in the PTA newsletter on 9/14.

All classes need a parent volunteer. The class volunteer receives free tuition and guaranteed placement! We still need a volunteer for Bricks 4 Kidz: Lego Engineering, Art, and Hockey. If you'd like to volunteer or have questions, email enrichment@mybenfranklinpta.org.

🧱 Bricks 4 Kidz: Lego Engineering

Grades K - 5 Tuesdays 4:00pm- 5:00pm Sep 29 - Dec 8 Cost: TBD / 11 week session (We are working with the vendor to finalize the cost)

STEAM Based Hand's-on Learning Jr. Robotics using LEGO Technic Tools. These classes deliver play that's fun, educational, and enriching for each child. We follow a 11 week theme with guided instructions for kids to build a project, connect it to a motor and battery and watch their vision come to life. What better way to give kids hands-on fun while they learn practical ways to apply STEAM concepts?!

♟️ Excel with Chess: Ben Franklin Chess Club

Grades K-5 Wednesdays 8:00am - 9:05am (BEFORE SCHOOL) Sept 30 - Dec 9 (no class Nov 11) $220 / 10 week session

Welcome back to chess club at Ben Franklin Elementary! Each class will have check-in, lessons, practice play, and an in class tournament round. We ensure that all kids are being challenged and learning something new each week. Our first class we will be assessing all of the students to see what level everyone is at. Based on these assessments, we may have multiple groups. This will also give us an idea what key chess strategies we will be learning throughout each session. Students are dismissed to school at 9:05am.

🏒 McVander Hockey: Ball Hockey

Grades K-5 Thursdays 8:00am-9:00am (BEFORE SCHOOL) Oct 1 - Dec 10 (no class Oct 29 - Nov 26) $225 / 9 class session

McVander Hockey is all about having fun! We don't keep score and we don't do traditional drills—instead, we play! Students will be grouped by size and ability to create a fun and positive environment for everyone. Each class begins with 10 minutes of exploratory play, followed by the kids deciding what we do! Depending on the day, activities might include:

Classes will take place outdoors under the covered basketball court. The goal is to get moving, have fun, build confidence, and love playing hockey!

🎨 Ashley Hale Art: After School Art Class

Grades K - 5 Wed, 2:30pm-3:30pm Sept 23 - Dec 9 (no class Nov 11 and Nov 25) $325 / 10 week session

After school art classes are a young artist's dream conveniently taught at your students school following dismissal. During our 10 weeks of creating we'll be covering a breadth of art forms and foundations, such as but not limited to: painting, drawing, sculpture, fibers, ceramics, mixed media, design, comics, manga, and Printmaking. Each class is 60-min and every session focuses on a selection of traditional fine art skills using various media types thus resulting in endless different projects. This allows students to enjoy taking session after session for years and never having to worry about doing the exact same project twice. All supplies are provided including 2 ceramic firings: bisque and glaze. Students will be given a portfolio at the beginning of the session. With this they will learn to respect and store their masterpieces just like professional artists. Students will take home their full portfolio the last day of class along with any 3D creations.
