Art Room Supplies

Art Room Invenotry:
The most up-to-date inventory can be found below.  Pam keeps it as current as you can, but double check that the items are still in the Art Docent Storage closet.

Other notes on Art Supplies:
  •  Don't forget to fill out the Materials Used Cards located in the Art Docent bin.
  • There are 2 red trays in the supply room, you may use them in many ways but I bought them mainly for drying supplies - brushes, watercolor refills, water cups, etc.  For brushes - please place papertowels down on the tray and then lay flat completely rinsed brushes on the tray and then place tray on a shelf in the supply room to dry.
  • Use the yogurt cups under the sink for rinsing brushes during art lesson.

Graphite Drawing Pencils – our pencils range from 8B (softest) to 6H (hardest). [The more H’s, the harder the pencil and the more B’s, the softer the pencil.] The softer the pencil, the broader and darker are the strokes. The harder the pencil, the more precise and lighter the strokes.  HB pencils are equivalent to the standard #2 pencils the kids use in school. If you want to know more about Graphite Pencils, check out About.com/Drawing & Sketching/Materials and Books

Paints – we have a large supply of acrylic paints, watercolors (refills) and tempera paints.

When I purchase brushes, they will be stored in the supply room and I would like to keep them separate from the brushes in the cabinet. I may start to pull a few that are currently in the cabinet to be stored in the supply room.

Hairspray – a fixatif for chalk and pastel drawings

Interesting Items in the Supply Closet to be aware of:

  • Bead Looms
  • Calligraphy Supplies
  • Neon Squares – could be used for origami
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Mosaic Box – filled with many paper squares already cut
  • Mirrors - useful for self portraits.  There should be enough for each child to have a mirror.
