January 31 - International Night is March 13th 6:30-8:30pm!  Come share your heritage and learn about others' in the Ben Franklin community.  Volunteers are needed to represent booths of different countries, to set up and to clean up.  Contact Susanne McDermott. - 4th Grade Garage & Bake Sale is Friday March 7th 9am-1pm and Saturday March 8th 9am-2pm.  All the proceeds go to the 4th grade Pennies for Pets Fundraising drive.  Donations and baked goods are needed for the sale.  Toys, books, clothes, furniture, kitchen items, etc are needed. - Sign up for Rachel Mueller's Spring Art class now!  The class starts March 3d and lasts for 10 weeks (see below for more info).  Registration forms are available in the office. - Order your SCRIP cards now!  Did you know that PCC will renew the SCRIP card at their store and still send 5% to Ben Franklin? January 24 - Eager Eagle for 1/23 - New Lunch menu January 17 - Franklin Courier for January. - Carbon Monoxide safety pamphlet. January 10 -  Eager Eagle - Bingo Night is next week:  Thursday 1/17 from 6:30-8pm.  $1 per board.  Board sales begin at 6:15.  One board per person, until 7pm when remaining cards will be sold.  Popcorn and beverage are for sale as well. - PTA General Meeting:  1/17 at 7pm in the Library.  If you've never been to a PTA meeting, this is a great one to start with.  - Kirkland Boys & Girls Club Winter classes in the Arts begin January 22nd.  Tae Kwon Do class registrations are now being accepted for K-6, beginning 1/14. 425.827.0132 - Purchase your SCRIP gift cards today!  Orders submitted before Monday will be returned on that Friday. - Studio East Winter 2008 schedule of classes is available.  2007 Packet - December 6 - Sprouts Children's Theatre presents "The No Hole Holiday."  -Order SCRIP gift cards for holiday gifts.  Orders turned in on Monday will receive gift cards back the following Friday. - The Kirkland Boys and Girls Club is offering Winter Break Camps.  Call 425.827.0132 to register. - Sign up for Redmond West Little League now.  - LWSD Days at UW Women's basketball.  Purchase tickets for $6 during selected upcoming games.  Visit www.GoHuskies.com and click on the "Ticket" tab near the top.  Click on the "Click here to Enter Online Ticket Office". Click on "Promotions" tab on the left side of the page.  Enter the promotion code LWSDWB.  Or, call 206.616.6194. - Join 4H!  4H provides opportunities for youth aged 5-19 to have fun, meet new people, learn new life skills, build self-confidence, learn responsibility, and set and achieve goals. Packet - November 8 - Reflections 2007/08 Art Program entries are due Nov 16.  This year's theme is "I can make a difference..."  Contact Beverly Gilbert for more information. - Purchase SCRIP gift cards today and a percentage goes directly to Ben Franklin. - Basketball and Cheerleading signups through i9Sports or call 425.369.2949. - Picture Retakes are Nov. 13th.  If you missed the first picture day, pick up a flyer in the office.  If you would like re-takes, remember to bring your original portraits. Packet - October 11 - The Jogathon is next week!  Please turn in your donation envelopes.  The classes that return 100% of their envelopes (even without donations) will get a pizza party! - Purchase SCRIP cards today!  Use your SCRIP card at your favorite stores (e.g. Starbucks, Red Apple, Ace Hardware, etc.) and a percentage of the purchase goes to Ben Franklin. - Sign up for K-2 Basketball now!  K-2 Basketball is offered through the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club. - Sign up now for 3-6 Basketball.  Basketball for grades 3-6 is offered through Kirkland Parks and Rec.  Packet - October 4 - Eager Eagle - check out the latest update from Mary Cronin. - Parent Connection Night is coming up October 18th from 6:30-8pm.  Learn strategies to help at home with reading, writing, internet safety and math.  Parents only please! - Playground Safety Volunteers:  we are looking for volunteers to help monitor the playground during all 3 recesses.  Contact April to sign up or for more information. - New Ben Franklin PTA website launches - Box Tops for Education:  Clip your boxtops (UPC and Labels 4 Education symbol) and send them into school.  Ben Franklin earned $500 last year!  - Kirkland Boys and Girls Club Annual Halloween Party on October 26.  There is a Jack O' Lantern Jamboree and a Haunted House. - Sign ups for Junior Thunderbirds Hockey, kids aged 5-10.  No experience necessary. - Hansel and Gretel is at Sprouts Children's theater from 10/12 to 10/28.
