After School Enrichment

PTA Sponsored Classes for Spring 2011:
The PTA is sponsoring after school classes in Spanish, Japanese, Chess, Art, Martial Arts, and Lego this year.  A complete list of all activities available at Franklin, including those sponsored by the PTA, can be found at the Ben Franklin school Activities page.

If you would like to see a new class brought to Ben Franklin, this page has all the info.

For Coordinators or Chaperones
If you are coordinating and/or chaperoning an enrichment class, our Coordinator and Chaperone page has everything you need to know:  policies on scheduling, collecting money, registration and more.

Ben Franklin parents and community members volunteer to teach art classes at least once a month -- all classes receive art via the Art Docent program.

Athletics
There are several organizations that provide athletics for students in the LWSD elementary schools.

Baseball and Softball:  Both Kirkland American Little League and Redmond West Little League offer baseball & softball at Franklin because students from both Kirkland, Redmond, and Bellevue attend Ben Franklin.  Little League is offered in grades K-6 via these organizations.  In general, if you live in Kirkland, your child will play in KALL; if you live in Redmond, your child will play in RedWest.  If you live in Bellevue, contact both to find out which includes your address.

Basketball
Grades K-2 for boys and girls are offered through the Kirkland Boys and Girls Club
Grades 3-6 for boys and girls are offered through the City of Kirkland Parks and Recreation.

Soccer:  The Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association (LWYSA) offers recreational and competitive soccer leagues for girls and boys grades K-6.

Summer Activities:
A variety of places provide summer programs and schedules.  There is usually a discounted rate for city residents.
Also check out the combined offerings of Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Woodinville and other communities via the new myparksandrecreation.com.
