Dad’s Family Reading Night Remember to put
Thursday, February 28th from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
on your family calendar. On that evening, several
dads will read their favorite children’s book to a group
of families. We will also feature Mr. Frank, a
local author and teacher at Ben Franklin, who will read
from his most recent book. We will also have Mr.
Frank’s book available for purchase. If you are a
dad and would like to read that evening, please contact
the Principal. We are still looking for a few more
readers. Children may attend in their PJ’s and
bring stuffed animals, pillows and/or blankets. I look
forward to this evening, as it is one of my favorites. Knowledge Master Open Four teams at
Franklin competed with tens of thousands of students in
the United States and several foreign lands in the
Knowledge Master Open academic competition on January
23, 2008. Students answered 100 challenging
questions in the event, earning points for the speed and
accuracy of their answers. Franklin’s top scoring
team, a group of seven 5th graders, received
725 out of 1000 possible points, placing them 11th
overall, worldwide! Congratulations to Gautham
Velchuru, Conrad Von Scheliha, Aalok Ahluwalia, Bryan
Wong, Skylar Conlin, Chanelle Fahsholtz, and Ellie Shaw
on their achievement. Before/After School Reminder Students are to
go directly to their class line outside in the morning
before school, not through the building.
Additionally, students must be picked up after school no
later than 3:45 p.m. There is no supervision after
that time. Lost & Found Our lost and found pile is getting higher and higher. You may want to check your child’s closet to see if anything is missing. If so, it’s probably here! Kindergarten Registration Kindergarten
Registration is scheduled for March 6th from
1:00 – 7:00 p.m. Registration will be held in the
half-day kindergarten classroom, room 114. Bring
your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and
utility bill or rental agreement to verify your address.
The all-day kindergarten lottery will be held on Friday,
March 14th. Students selected in the lottery will
be notified to confirm their spot. A deposit is
required to register for ADK. Joining Students for Lunch You are welcome
to join students for lunch. However, please
remember to bring exact change ($3.00 for adults and
$2.25 for children) or, be willing to have your change
deposited into your student’s lunch account. With
so many parents making lunch deposits online, it is hard
to make change. Thanks! PE News Jump Rope /
Hoops for Heart was a real success! Over 60
students participated in raising $1,800. for the
American Heart Association. Kudos goes to our
amazing volunteers: Shelley Kloba, Michael Li, Sheilagh
Conklin, Julie Peterson, Richard Colburn, Laurie Uhrich,
Tommy Quiere, Carolyn Gudmundson, Valerie Horvath,
Salley Norred, Tamara Hill, Elizabeth Lanning, Jan
Sayers, Rhonda Odell and Tamar Barash. Earned
pledge prizes will arrive in about six weeks. Dates to
