Eager Eagle for October 18, 2007 Jog-a-thon As I sit writing this, I am
listening to the Macarena while the kindergarten students are
outside jogging. It is going to be a wet day, but our
students do not care. Thanks to all of you who helped
today with counting money, leading warm-ups, and working
outside. You are amazing! Parent Connection Night Thursday, October 18th
from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., we will have a parent night so you can
learn more about what we do with your children at school and how
you can help at home. We are trying hard to bridge the
parent/teacher communication gap. Four classes will be
offered and parents can choose which two they would like to
attend. The classes will be: Math Curriculum & Math
Games, Literacy (comprehension and reading strategies), Writing
(how to help your child at home with writing), and Technology &
Internet Safety. We will meet in the commons and then
break into classes. Each session will last 45 minutes.
Hope you can make it! Halloween Parade Each year we have a school-wide
parade to celebrate fall, harvest and Halloween. Halloween
is on a Wednesday this year, which is early dismissal, so we had
to squeeze things into the day. Students will eat lunch on
a different schedule; K-2 will eat from 10:55– 11:15, grades 3-4
will eat from 11:20-11:40 and grades 5-6 will eat lunch at
11:30. The parade will begin at 12:30 in the commons.
We will have chairs set up for parents. If you can walk
here, I highly suggest you do so, as parking will be scarce.
We cannot open the playground for parking since students will be
outside for dismissal. Please remember costumes may not be
violent or gory, for example: knives, swords, blood etc.
Students may not wear their costume to school. Following
the parade, classrooms are scheduling activities of some sort. Lost and Found Once again, it boggles my mind to see so many jackets and coats already in the lost and found. Please check to see if your child is missing clothing. We will donate all lost and found items after the Thanksgiving break. Help Wanted The school district is looking
for bus drivers for various routes. If you are looking for
a part-time or full time job, please apply on-line on the
district web site. Additionally, food service is looking
for staff as well. Dates to Remember October 26 – No School for Students October 31 – Halloween Parade November 12 – Veterans Day, No School November 16, 19 and 20 (half days) - Conferences November 22, 23 – Thanksgiving Break |
