We appreciate our teachers!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week.  There are many ways we can say "Thank You!" to our teachers and staff.

Tuesday:  bring flowers for your teacher – just one or a whole bunch!

Wednesday & Thursday – write a letter, a poem, an email or draw a picture that lets your teacher know how much you appreciate them!

All week – stop by the display in the foyer and check out our Teacher Travel Trivia

Meet Kim Fricke, our new Principal, May 7

HopeLink Food Drive:  Campaign to End Hunger May 5-9
Donations for Hopelink are down right now, but the need is still there.  Ben Franklin is participating in Hopelink's Campaign to End Hunger by accepting cash and canned food donations.  Donation boxes for canned goods are in the hall outside the gym.  Brown paper bags went home last week for spare change (or other cash) donations.  Hopelink needs both forms of support as cash donations are used to purchase perishables e.g. meat, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Nominations for PTA Awards Due May 9th
It is time for the annual Golden Acorn and Golden Eagle awards.  Each year our PTA gives the Golden Acorn Award to someone who has given exemplary service to children in our school community. The Golden Acorn Award is very special and is reserved for those committed to continuing and dedicated service.

In addition, Ben Franklin Elementary gives Golden Eagle Awards to those who have given of themselves to Franklin activities during the year. A person may be honored with numerous Golden Eagle Awards throughout their volunteer time here. Golden Eagles are categorized the following way:

* Outstanding PTA volunteer: This person has been valuable to Ben Franklin PTA in a variety of ways. They are always there to help with various projects and provide support on all levels. They may not be a committee chairperson, but our PTA could not survive without their help and enthusiasm.
* Outstanding PTA Committee work: This person improved one of our PTA committees in a very positive way. Their organization and work made a very positive impact on the students of Ben Franklin. Having volunteers like them who are willing to take on a committee and improve it helps to keep Franklin’s PTA the positive organization it is.

Fill out a form and nominate someone today for their service to Ben Franklin.

Science Fair / Book Fair / Open House coming May 15th
What more could you ask for?!  The annual Open House for Ben Franklin coincides with our Science Fair and a special Book Fair presented by our librarian, Ms. McElfish.

Start thinking about your science projects. More information and forms will be coming home on April 24th.  Or you can download the registration form here.

And our special "Buy One, Get one FREE" Book Fair will be the same night, 6:30-8:00pm.

Volunteers are needed for both.  Contact Tamara if you can help with the Science Fair.  Contact Barbara McElfish to help at the Book Fair.
